Pedestrian killed in South Sacramento collision

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car early this morning in South Sacramento according to the CHP which is investigating the collision. The incident happened around 6:30 am Tuesday morning. The driver that struck the pedestrian called 911 and remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

The CHP issued the following report:

John Doe was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, south of 43rd Ave. from the east sidewalk, walking in a westerly direction across traffic lanes, directly in front of a Toyota traveling northbound at 30 mph. The left front of the Toyota struck Doe, who came to rest within the two way left turn lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The driver of the Toyota stopped and made notification by calling 911. Sacramento F.D. responded and declared Doe deceased at the scene of the collision.
