Road closures in Elk Grove Thursday and Saturday

There are two events this week in Elk Grove that will require the closure of city streets. The Gobble Wobble on Thursday and the Dickens Street Faire on Saturday.

The Elk Grove Gobble Wobble, organized by Chicks in Crisis, offers Elk Grove runners and walkers a chance to burn off a few extra calories before the big feast with a 5K Family Fun Run on Thanksgiving morning, November 24. The route starts and finishes from Longleaf Drive.

To accommodate the event, road closures and alternative routes will be set up between the hours of 7:30 to 11:00 am. Roadways will be re-opened when runners clear the area. Holiday motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Street Closures for Thursday, November 24:

  • Both directions of Longleaf Drive will be closed
  • Laguna Spring Drive in both directions between Laguna Blvd and Elk Grove Blvd
  • Eastbound Laguna Blvd/Bond Road from Laguna Springs Drive to East Stockton Blvd
  • Northbound Highway 99 Bond Road off-ramp
  • Both directions of East Stockton Blvd between Bond Road and Emerald Vista Drive

More than 2,000 runners have participated in previous Thanksgiving Day run events in the city. Register online.

For questions about the route or more information, contact Inez Whitlow at Chicks in Crisis at (916) 275-6699.

Get in the holiday spirit as artists, crafters, games, food, entertainment and even Santa himself converge on Old Town Elk Grove this Saturday, November 26, for the Old Town Elk Grove Dickens Street Faire hosted by the Old Town Elk Grove Foundation.

To accommodate the event, road closures and alternative routes around the event have been set up between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Road closures to support the Festival will affect the following main streets and adjacent streets in both directions:

• Elk Grove Blvd from 2nd Avenue to School Street

The Dickens Street Faire takes place from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Elk Grove Blvd. will remain closed for the Old Town Holiday Tree Lighting at 6:00 pm.
