Storytime with the Chief
Join the Elk Grove Police Department and a very special guest for a holiday storytime event on Monday, December 19 at 6 p.m. at District56. This free family experience will include a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Hot cocoa, cookies and special giveaways will also be a part of the evening. Space is limited. Pet Vaccines to Go
Elk Grove Animal Services will host their quarterly drive-thru vaccination clinic this Saturday, December 10 from 9 to Noon at 8220 Longleaf Drive. This free clinic for Elk Grove residents will offer rabies vaccines for dogs and cats, DHPP vaccines for dogs, FVRCP vaccines for cats, and free microchipping while supplies last. Proof of residency is required and free 1-year licenses are available for new, altered pets. Learn more.

Gift Shopping Supporting Local Seniors
Senior Center elves are working extra hard to bring the most unique, beautiful and wow-worthy gifts for shoppers at their Holiday Gift Faire on Saturday, December 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at District56 (8230 Civic Center Drive). Experience the jolly of the season and shop for the special someones on your list among more than 25 local artists, crafters, and vendors. Free admission. All proceeds benefit the Senior Center of Elk Grove.  

Join the Diversity & Inclusion Commission
Elk Grove’s diversity is one of its most amazing characteristics. Members of the Diversity and Inclusion Commission assist the City through education and outreach, advocacy, and engaging the community as ambassadors. Commissioners provide the City Council with feedback and recommendations for creating a more equitable, accessible, safe, welcoming and inclusive government and community.
Applications are being accepted through this Wednesday, December 7 for one vacant seat on the Diversity and Inclusion Commission. This is a non-paid, volunteer position for Elk Grove residents appointed by the Mayor with the consensus of the City Council. Applicants must be able to commit to attending monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month and participate in at least 70% of all Commission-hosted activities throughout the year. Learn more

Let’s Talk About Bus Stops
Does your bus stop need a major clean up? Better signage? Civic Thread and Sacramento Regional Transit are hosting a virtual community visioning event this Wednesday, December 7 at 6 p.m. to hear your concerns. Your feedback will inform SacRT’s Bus Stop Improvement Plan, a comprehensive list of necessary and desired improvements to bus stops, amenities, and supporting pedestrian infrastructure. This plan will help to guide where funding should be prioritized to improve the SacRT bus stops for all residents. All attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a free month transit pass from SacRT! Join online.

Recycle Your Holiday String Lights
Don’t throw away those string lights, recycle instead! Broken or unwanted string lights may be recycled at the following locations: 
Elk Grove City Hall| 8401 Laguna Palms WayMonday through Friday, 8 am. to 5 p.m. 
Special Waste Collection Center | 9255 Disposal LaneSunday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Large lighted holiday decorations such as inflatables and sculptures will only be accepted at the Special Waste Collection Center. Lighted or artificial trees cannot be recycled.
