Elk Grove police arrest two people for stealing car, trying to evade police

On Monday night Elk Grove police officers arrested two men who stole a vehicle and then fled from officers eventually stopping on railroad tracks before fleeing on foot. Both suspects were apprehended, one with the help of a K9.

The Elk Grove Police Department posted the incident on their Facebook page earlier today.

Officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Sheldon Road and Lewis Stein Road last night around 8. Officers attempted a vehicle stop when the suspects, Luis Alcazar (driver) and Cyrus Sophalflores (passenger), led officers in a pursuit. The pursuit ended when Alcazar and Sophalflores fled on foot on the train tracks near Sheldon Road. With the assistance of one of our K9s, Flores was apprehended. Alcazar continued to run until he was later located by our officers and taken into custody.

A record check of Sophalflores showed him on active probation and Alcazar with an active warrant.

Both Alcazar and Sophalflores were booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, vehicle theft, outstanding warrant, evading a Peace Officer, and resisting arrest.
