Elk Grove Police arrested a suspect who stabbed his own brother in the parking lot outside the Sky River Casino in Elk Grove late Thursday night.
A Sacramento man has been arrested after stabbing his brother during an altercation.
Last night around 11:20, officers responded to the Sky River Casino parking lot after a call regarding a man screaming for help. Officers arrived and found a man with a cut on his face standing near a vehicle in the parking lot.
Casino security staff notified officers on scene that they had found another man at one of the casino’s entrances suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers and Casino security staff rendered first aid to the injured man until medical personnel arrived.
Officers, along with detectives immediately began looking into what had occurred. Through the course of the investigation, they learned the two men were brothers and had arrived in a car together. The two men never entered the casino and had been parked in the casino parking lot for around two hours prior.
After being parked for some time, the pair started driving through the parking lot and an argument ensued. During the fight, the 50-year-old victim and driver of the vehicle allegedly threatened the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Mahendra Singh. Singh then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times. The victim got out of the vehicle and walked to a casino entrance, where casino security contacted him. Singh was found by responding officers near the car and detained.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.
Singh was treated at a local hospital for his injuries sustained during the altercation and later booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for attempted murder.
