What is happening this week in Elk Grove?

Conquering Cracks and Maintaining Roadways
The annual citywide crack sealing operation gets underway next week. Crack sealing is the most common preventive maintenance pavement treatment to fill cracks greater than 1/8”. Crack sealing extends the life of the pavement by up to 7 years and is one of the most cost-effective treatments used to keep a road in good driving condition. Roads won’t be closed for this treatment, but there could be delays. Slow for crews working at these locations from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.*Monday, 2/6: Waterman Rd from Elk Grove Blvd to Mainline Drive Tuesday, 2/7: Grant Line Rd from HWY 99 to Waterman Road Wednesday, 2/8: Grant Line Rd from Bradshaw Road to Bond RoadThursday, 2/9: Bradshaw Rd from Grant Line Road to Bond RoadFriday, 2/10: Elk Grove Blvd from Elk Grove Florin Road to School Street Friday, 2/10: Elk Grove Blvd from Waterman Road to Grant Line Road

What are potential strategies we could use to keep Elk Grove safe?
Violent and property crimes have risen in Elk Grove, and the local Fire Department medical emergency response times are above the national standard. With the recent passage of Measure E, the City and District are looking to enhance existing programs and explore new strategies to address public safety. Join Chief of Police Bobby Davis, Cosumnes Fire Department Fire Chief Felipe Rodriguez, and staff to discuss and explore potential public safety solutions that could be supported by Measure E funds next Tuesday, February 7 and make your voice heard. This is part of a series of Measure E conversations and will begin at 6 p.m. at District56 (8230 Civic Center Drive). No registration is required. Learn more

Did you Receive an Oops Tag from Republic Services?
Elk Grove neighborhoods are being visited at random on collection day to evaluate how residents are doing with sorting their trash. This effort is part of a statewide education and enforcement response to organic waste recycling laws. If your cart had items that were incorrectly sorted, you may have received one of these tags. These notes are meant to help educate residents before enforcement requires other penalties. To learn more on the proper sorting for trash, recycling and organic waste, use the City’s Look-up Tool.
