Sacramento Police arrest suspect who assaulted family after “sideshow”

The Sacramento Police Department announced they have arrested a man suspected of assaulting a family after a sideshow in South Sacramento early Saturday morning

On 02/11/2023, officers responded to a report of a large sideshow in the area or Amherst and Meadowview just after 12:15 a.m. During that incident, an adult victim, and his juvenile son, were assaulted. The report was immediately forwarded to our South Neighborhood Crimes Unit and detectives have been diligently investigating the case.

During the investigation, Detectives identified the suspect as 19-year-old, Antonio Hernandez.

On 02/15/2023, Detectives located Hernandez in the 4000 Block of Green Tree Drive. Hernandez was taken into custody and booked at the Sacramento County Jail for felony assault and child endangerment charges.

The Sacramento Police Department will continue to take maximum enforcement on those who participate in sideshow activity by working with regional agencies and using an intelligence-based approach to dedicate resources to these events. Investigating and reducing violent crime in our city remains one of the Sacramento Police Department’s top priorities.
