Sacramento police arrest Elk Grove man believed to be linked to South Sacramento explosions

The Sacramento Police Department announced they have arrested a person in connection with several explosions in the South Sacramento area over the past few months. 61-year-old Robert Ziganto of Elk Grove was arrested on Monday in a joint operation with several other law enforcement agencies. Ziganto was booked on three felonies and is being held on $100,000 bail.

Over the past several months, the Sacramento Police Department has been actively investigating numerous explosions that occurred in South Sacramento resulting in property damage. Through the course of this investigation detectives identified a male individual, 61-year-old Robert Ziganto as a person of interest.

On March 21, 2023, members of the Sacramento Police Department, in partnership with other local agencies including Elk Grove PD, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, and FBI Sacramento, served a search warrant at Ziganto’s residence in Elk Grove. Ziganto was subsequently arrested on charges related to possessing and manufacturing an explosive device and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
