Sacramento Sheriff releases name of one of the shooters at Sacramento Sikh Temple

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department released the name of one of the shooters involved in the incident at a Sacramento Sikh temple on Sunday afternoon. They have not yet released the name of the other people involved.

21-year-old Karman Sandhu was charged with felony attempted murder and is being held without bail.

On Sunday, March 26, 2023, Gurdwara Sahib (a Sikh temple), located at 7676 Bradshaw Road in Sacramento, hosted a religious festival which began at 9:00 A.M. Thousands of worshippers and spectators attended and participated in a parade celebrating Nagar Kirtan.

At approximately 2:30 P.M., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting on temple grounds. Upon their arrival, they discovered two male subjects suffering from gunshot wounds. Both subjects were transported to the hospital for treatment and were expected to survive. Law enforcement officers throughout the region, including the Sacramento Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department, and the California Highway Patrol, responded to assist.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. Based on their investigation, they determined that three East Indian males were involved in a physical fight. One subject produced a firearm and shot one of the other individuals. The third individual, later identified as 21-year-old Karman SANDHU, also produced a firearm and shot the first individual. SANDHU fled the scene on foot. SANDHU was later located and taken into custody by Sheriff’s detectives.

As detectives continue their investigation, they ask anyone with information about this incident to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP.
