If you were driving through Elk Grove around 3:30 pm on Wednesday you may have seen Elk Grove police had the area around the Wackford Center near Bruceville and Big Horn closed off for a short time. It was all due to a shoplifting and robbery incident at the Home Depot in Elk Grove involving four people.

The Elk Grove Police Department posted the following on its Facebook page

Juan Martinez-Perez, Luis Andrade, Mariela Escobedo, and Emmanuel Valencia-Flores entered Home Depot during normal hours. Juan concealed items and attempted to leave the store when a loss prevention officer attempted to contact Juan. Juan shoved the LPO multiple times then fled the scene in a white van with the others.

Officers located the suspects shortly after in the area of Big Horn Boulevard/ Bruceville Road. Due to the location and need for a felony stop, Officers temporarily shut down the roadway for the communities safety. Officers observed signs of intoxication from the driver, Luis. A record check of Mariela returned with an active felony warrant, and she was found to be in possession of brass knuckles, methamphetamine, and a glass pipe.
