Three Cheers for Volunteers
April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and the City is grateful to the many residents who donate their time, talent, and expertise to support the Elk Grove community through programs like the Volunteers in Police Services (VIPs), Community Ambassadors, Elk Grove Animal Services (EGAS), City committees and commissions, and local event support. Elk Grove is a better community thanks to our volunteers. View volunteer opportunities.


Help create a regional transit network
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is working with transit operators and planning agencies to improve the region’s public transportation services. Take a 10-minute online survey to provide your input on public transit, key transit service connection needs, and proposed transit corridors. 

City Launches Second Annual Startup Contest
The second annual “Pitch Elk Grove” startup competition is coming to District56 on May 18. Pitch Elk Grove offers entrepreneurs in the greater Sacramento region a chance to gain visibility, receive mentorship, and win up to $10,000 in prize money. Startups interested in participating that are based in the counties of Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba have until Monday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m. to apply. Winners of last year’s contest are not eligible.
The contest is being produced by the City of Elk Grove in partnership with StartupSac and Explore Elk Grove. Up to sixteen semi-finalists will be selected to compete in a virtual pitch-off on April 27. From these, up to eight finalists will advance to the live pitch event on May 18. Prizes will be awarded for best startup ($10,000), second best startup ($5,000), and best Elk Grove-based startup ($2,500).
Pitch Elk Grove is part of the Startup Elk Grove Incentive Program, which provides technical and financial assistance to launching and scaling startups and the places that support them. For more information on entering the contest, visit the Pitch Elk Grove contest page. 

Brewfest is Back!
Elk Grove Brewfest is coming back for its 6th year. Join the fun on Saturday, April 22 from 2-6 p.m. at Elk Grove Park. Buy Tickets

Are you up for a challenge?
Join the movement toward a healthy, active lifestyle at FitFest, a free fitness festival hosted by Cosumnes CSD Parks & Recreation on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Laguna Community Park (9014 Bruceville Road). FitFest will have fun activities for all ages and abilities, including a free Kids Zone, adult fitness demos, health & wellness vendors, delicious food trucks, and friendly competitions. Advanced registration is required for the youth and adult fitness competitions. Learn more and register.
