Did Someone Say Silent Disco? Bring your family and friends to experience something new at the Old Town Plaza this Friday, May 5. Guaranteed to avoid violating the noise ordinance, the silent disco encourages guests to dance to music played through wireless headphones. Outdoor games and food trucks will also be on site. Get in the groove with this new experience in the Grove! Activities are free, food available for purchase. This is one of a series of new, free, family events open to all ages. May Is Bike Month Get out and get your pedals moving in celebration of bike month. Elk Grove’s trails will help get you where you want to go. Our network of trails and bikeways connect bicyclists to parks, schools, retail centers, commute routes, and nature. Whether for fun, fitness, or transportation, hop on your bike and join in the excitement! Download or print the Elk Grove Trail Map to help you get around.Participate in Bike to School Day this Wednesday, May 3Ride to Food Truck Mania at Old Town Plaza this Wednesday, May 3 and get a discount on dinner and free bike valet parking.Meet the Trails Committee and city staff for a group ride on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:30 a.m. The ride starts and ends at City Hall and concludes at 12:30 p.m.Visit mayisbikemonth.com for information on regional events, maps, and resources and information for any level of cyclist. Log your trips on the Love to Ride platform to be entered into prize drawings! Check out progress on our city’s Laguna Creek Inter-Regional Trail Master Plan. The plan serves as the foundation for the completion of the trail and will result in a cohesive trail system that stretches over 10 miles across the entire width of Elk Grove and links into Sacramento’s trail network.

Youth Commission Introduces a Heritage Parade The Youth Commission has teamed up with the NeighborGood Market to celebrate the many cultures in Elk Grove. Join the fun on Thursday, May 11 by attending the market in your cultural attire and share your heritage with others. Experience parade entries from local organizations, check out cultural artifacts, dance to folk music and much more. All activities will take place at District56 from 4- 8 p.m. To join the parade or become an exhibitor, contact Ohm Shah with the Youth Commission.

It’s Almost Time to Party on the PalmsSchool is nearly out and that means it’s time to celebrate! Party on the Palms is a teens-only event like no other. This special event is coming back on Saturday, May 13 from 6-9 p.m. on Laguna Palms Way (in front of City Hall). Hosted by the Youth Commission for Elk Grove students ages 13-18, the event offers a chance to dance the night away to DJ music, splash around in a foam pit, hang out in the teen scene social media lounge, geek out in the on-site game truck, snack on food and drinks, and play foosball, corn hole, ping pong and a special carnival-style game.
