Elk Grove man in custody after Thursday night stand-off

An Elk Grove man is in custody after a stand-off with Elk Grove police Thursday night. 33-year-old Justin Narayan of Elk Grove was arrested after leading police on a short chase that ended when Elk Grove police officers used a “police intervention technique” or PIT maneuver to disable the car on Waterman Road between Bond Road and Sheldon Road. Narayan was being pulled over for vehicle code violations when he tried to evade police in the East Elk Grove area.

According to Elk Grove police, “Narayan refused to get out of the vehicle for over an hour until Narayan was taken into custody with the assistance of a K9.

Narayan was treated at a local hospital and then booked at the Main Jail, where he remains in custody on charges of felony evading and resisting arrest.”
