The CHP has released more information on Tuesday night’s deadly collision and the Sacramento County Coroner has released the identity of one of the victims.

One of the victims has been identified as 37-year-old Ashley Godinez of Wilton. The second person is a 27-year-old male from Ukiah.

CHP Report

On June 20th, 2023, at approximately 9:28 PM Sacramento Communication Dispatch Center advised California Highway Patrol (CHP) – South Sacramento units of a report of a two vehicle traffic crash with an ambulance responding, that had occurred on Dillard Road, east of SR-99. CHP – South Sacramento units arrived on scene and based on preliminary investigation determined that a 27 year old male driver of a 2017 Nissan Rogue was driving westbound on Dillard Road, approaching SR-99. He was observed by several witnesses driving erratically by following too close and making unsafe passing maneuvers. At the same time, a 37 year old female driver of a 2016 Nissan Altima with her 2 year old child, was driving eastbound on Dillard Road, from southbound SR-99. The driver of the Nissan Rogue made an unsafe turning movement to the left into the eastbound lane as he approached the Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan Altima turned to the left to avoid a crash just as the driver of the Nissan Rogue corrected back to the right. A head-on crash occurred between the two vehicles which resulted in major injuries to both drivers, culminating in their deaths. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the Nissan Altima was likely wearing her seatbelt, and her child was properly restrained in a child safety seat. The driver of the Nissan Rogue was likely not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and preliminary investigation indicates the possibility of alcohol intoxication. The names of both drivers will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office upon notifications to Next of Kin. Dillard Road was closed in both directions at the scene for approximately 2.5 hours.
