Name of driver killed in fatal Elk Grove collision released by Coroner

The Sacramento County Coroner has released the name of the man killed in Monday night’s fatal collision in Elk Grove. 34-year-old Robert Graham Hanson of Roseville has been identified as the driver.

One person was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle collision on Elk Grove Blvd near Interstate 5. The Elk Grove Police Department released the following information.

ELK GROVE, CA – On August 7, 2023, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers responded to Elk Grove Boulevard, just east of Interstate 5, regarding a single-vehicle collision.

The driver of a silver Nissan Murano was driving northbound Interstate 5 and exited onto Elk Grove Boulevard. The vehicle continued eastbound in the number one lane when according to witnesses, the SUV accelerated and drifted into the center median for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and rendered aid. The driver, a 34-year-old man, however, succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The cause of the collision is under investigation; however, detectives believe alcohol was not a factor.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will make identification of the deceased.
