Cooling Center Opens Today
In anticipation of work week temperatures topping the century mark, the City of Elk Grove will open a cooling center starting today, Monday, August 14, and operating daily from Noon to 8 p.m. through Wednesday, August 16 at the Elk Grove Police Department located at 8400 Laguna Palms Way
The Cooling Center is open to anyone who lacks shelter or adequate home cooling. A limited number of animal kennels will be available to house pets, if needed. 

Hot Temps & Cool Tunes – Elk Grove Outdoor Music Events Rock!
Late summer brings an abundance of local events and opportunities to enjoy live music outdoors. Pack up the family or make it a date night and attend one of these upcoming concerts around Elk Grove.
Every Friday in August — Hot Summer Nights Concert Series, 6:30 p.m.Saturday, August 19 — Camden Music by the Lake featuring Cover Me Badd, 6 p.m.Friday, September 15 – Fridays in the Grove: Salsa on the Avenue, 7 p.m. 

BBQ in the Beat Repeats
Elk Grove Police Department will continue its BBQ in the Beat event series this Saturday, August 19 at Amundson Park (8730 Heritage Hill Drive) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet local officers, check out some of the special vehicles and equipment and enjoy games and a free barbecue lunch. Cosumnes Fire Department will also have a fire engine on site.   

Volunteer at the Elk Grove Multicultural Festival
We’re looking for a few more hands to assist at the 11th annual Elk Grove Multicultural Festival. The Festival is scheduled on Saturday, September 9 at District56. Not only will you be a part of the best cultural celebration in town, but you’ll get a free t-shirt! We’re looking for help leading kids activities, behind the scenes with the bands and dance groups, supporting the logistics team and more. And parents, if your high school students need community service hours, this is the best place to earn those credits! Sign up today 

Showcase your Art at the Multicultural Festival
Showcase your art at the Elk Grove Multicultural Festival on Saturday, September 9 at District56. All artists, including high school students are eligible and entry is free. Artists may submit their art through September 1. Fill out the application and learn more at elkgrovecity.org/mcf.

The community and the Elk Grove City Council were recently introduced to some of the new professionals joining the City’s service team. New hires and promotions in the Police Department, Public Works Department, Finance Department, and the City Manager’s Office are filling vacancies and improving service to the community. On June 14, 2023 the Elk Grove City Council approved a collaborative agreement between the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office and the Elk Grove Police Department for what is known as a Community Prosecutor Program. In the latest episode of the Elk Grove Citycast, Elk Grove Police Lieutenant Dan Templeton shares what this program means for public safety in the city and how it will help officers and the community.
