Learn More About the Enhanced Winter Sanctuary
Providing Elk Grove’s unhoused individuals with a warm space to stay and wrap-around services over the cold, winter months is the goal of the new Enhanced Winter Sanctuary. The City and The Gathering Inn invite the community to attend a learning session tonight, October 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the facility located at 9260 Elk Grove Boulevard. Meet the management team, ask questions, and learn more about the program and the safeguards being implemented to serve and protect the participants as well as members of the community.

Elk Grove Introduces Vaping Devices and E-cigarettes Collection Program
While increasingly popular, vaping devices, their components, and e-cigarettes present special disposal challenges. From their lithium and lithium-ion batteries, which can cause fires and even explosions in the solid waste disposal process, to the leaking of their highly poisonous substances into the environment, used vaping products require special treatment. Elk Grove’s new collection program provides vape and e-cigarette users with a safe and proper disposal method for these items and their components—and it’s FREE for residents. Here’s how:Place devices and batteries, e-liquids and bottles, tanks, cartridges, and pods in a sealable or Ziploc bag.Drop-off at the Special Waste Collection Center (9255 Disposal Lane) at any time Sunday to Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
