City of Elk Grove to lower speed limit on Bradshaw and Grant Line Roads

At this week’s Elk Grove City Council Meeting, one of the items on the consent calendar is a plan to change the speed limit on several streets in the city. Consent Calendar items are usually approved without council deliberations.

Two of the streets most affected will be Bradshaw Road between Grant Line and Calvine Road and Grant Line Road between State Route 99 and Equestrian Drive.

The speed limit on Bradshaw Road will be reduced from 55 mph to 50 mph between Calvine Road and Elk Grove Blvd. Bradshaw Road from Elk Grove Blvd to Grant Line Road will have the speed limit increased from 45 mph to 50 mph.

West Stockton Blvd will be reduced from 55 to 45 mph from Promenade Parkway to just south of Laguna Grove Drive.

According to the city staff report, the recommended speed limit was derived by rounding the prevailing speed to the nearest 5 MPH increment and then applying a 5 MPH reduction per section 22358.6 of the California Vehicle Code.
