A man who was out on bail for an alleged shooting in South Sacramento in 2022 was arrested by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department Gang Suppression Unit on Wednesday. The suspect had two illegally modified guns at the time of his arrest.
The department posted the following on its social media pages:
On Wednesday morning, Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) Detectives, along with the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail, served a high risk residential search warrant in East Sacramento County, for validated East Side Piru gang member, Donrell Martinez (aka “Freeway Donny”).
A search of the residence revealed a Draco assault weapon (AK-47 pistol) with a high capacity drum magazine, as well as a loaded handgun affixed with a fully automatic conversion switch, making it a machine gun. Martinez was arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for charges related to possession of an assault weapon, possession of a machine gun, and being a prohibited person in possession of firearms.
At the time of this arrest, Martinez was out on bail related to a south Sacramento shooting from 2022. Detectives sought a bail enhancement and a Judge granted a no bail order for Martinez’s current case.
