Elk Grove Police received a call from a neighbor around 6:30 pm who lives on Aizenberg Circle that they found a bullet hole in the wall. A short time later the neighbor reported smoke and fire coming from a neighbor’s home.
Cosumnes Fire Department arrived and put out a small fire and found an unresponsive man in the home. The man was transported to the hospital where he later died. Cosumnes Fire is investigating the fire for possible arson.
Elk Grove Police said the man had no obvious signs of trauma. An investigation is underway. The Sacramento County Coroner will release the name of the deceased.
Update from Elk Grove Police
Final Update- Arson investigators have identified the origin of the fire as an electrical source. The heat generated by the fire caused ammunition within the residence to explode, penetrating the adjacent neighbor’s duplex wall.
Following a thorough investigation, detectives have concluded that the death of the 30-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the residence, is not suspicious, and foul play has been ruled out.
