Sacramento police investigating a homicide in the Pocket area

The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting in the Pocket area of the city of Sacramento late Wednesday night. According to police, an adult female was found suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she died of her injuries.

The incident happened in the 9000 block of Florin Road, near Greenhaven Drive in the Lake Crest Village Shopping. Local news media reports showed a white vehicle in the parking lot surrounded by crime scene tape and evidence markers.

Homicide Investigation – 900 Block of Florin Road

On February 14th, 2024, around 11:17 pm, Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 Block of Florin Road. Upon arrival, officers located a female adult victim with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital by the Sacramento Fire Department. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim was later pronounced deceased.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after the next of kin have been notified.
