Elk Grove police looking for suspect in connection with two explosions this week

The Elk Grove Police Department is looking for a suspect they believe is responsible for setting off two explosions this past week in the city.

The department posted the details as well as a video of one of the explosions on its Facebook page.

Detectives are actively seeking to identify the suspect responsible for setting off two explosions on consecutive days. On Tuesday, March 12th, around 7:30 pm, officers responded to an explosion that occurred at Jones Park, inside the park’s bathroom.

The following day, at approximately 7:40 pm, surveillance footage captured a male suspect wearing a black hoodie riding a bicycle into Baneberry Court. He was seen placing an explosive device into a trash bin that was out on the street before quickly fleeing the scene. The explosion caused significant damage to the bin.

The explosive device in both incidents has been identified as high-grade illegal commercial fireworks, and the suspect has been linked to the explosion at Jones Park the day prior.
