Ever wonder what happens after you flush the toilet?
The Sacramento Area Sewer District is the region’s sewage collection, treatment, and resource recovery utility—providing service to more than 1.6 million people. They operate 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so if you’re experiencing a slow drain or backup, always call them first at (916) 875-6730.

When you flush or use water in your home, the collected sewage is delivered to SacSewer’s EchoWater Resource Recovery Facility (EchoWater Facility). This is the final destination for treating and recovering resources from the sewage before recycling a portion of it for non-potable uses. What’s not recycled is safely discharged into the Sacramento River.

Rates for sewage collection, treatment, and resource recovery appear on your Sacramento County consolidated utility bill.

Gather the family and enjoy an afternoon of fun on Saturday, April 13 at Family Fun Day from Noon to 4 p.m. at the Old Town Plaza. This free event organized by the Elk Grove Youth Commission will feature carnival games, music, activities, and more! Food will be available for purchase.
