Final living survivor of USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor has died at the age of 102

The last remaining survivor of the USS Arizona that was attacked and sunk on December 7, 1941, in Pearl Harbor has died at the age of 102. Lou Conter was living in Grass Valley at the time of his death.

The attack by the Japanese killed 2403 Americans that day and destroyed several US Navy ships, including the USS Arizona. The Arizona is now the site of a memorial to all those who died that day.

Conter visited Elk Grove in April 2019 to attend the Annual Walk to Remember to honor Elk Grove resident SFC Bryan Hall, who was killed in action on April 10, 2009, in Mosul, Iraq. At that time he was one of only five remaining survivors.

KCRA interviewed Mr. Conter in December.
