Two people killed in crash on Waterman Road in Elk Grove Identified

Update to an earlier story. The Sacramento County Coroner has identified the two people killed in Tuesday’s fatal collision. The driver was 21-year-old Leiver Montiel Munoz, and the passenger was 21-year-old Tamara Gutierrez, both of Sacramento.

Two people were killed in a crash Tuesday morning around 5 am on Waterman Road in Elk Grove. According to Elk Grove police, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Waterman Road approaching the roundabout at Sheldon Road when the 21-year-old male driver left the roadway and struck a pole. Both the driver and a 21-year-old female passenger were killed in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing, and Traffic Investigators believe speed was a factor.
