Every Dollar Counts. Every Voice Matters.
City services are funded by the Elk Grove community. Keeping you informed on how and what the city is allocating your tax dollars toward is important. As the Elk Grove City Council prepares to consider the adoption of the FY 2026-27 City Budget at their meeting on Wednesday, June 10, we invite you to participate in the process.

Budget spending reflects the City’s values and priorities. If you’d like to share your thoughts or provide any comments on the funding plans for the coming year, please contact the City Budget Manager, Nathan Bagwill, in advance of the June 10 public hearing or register to participate in the public comment on this item during the meeting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.

Celebrate Juneteenth with Family Fun and Local Flavor
Join the Dreams Unlimited Foundation for a free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Old Town Plaza. This special community event honors freedom, culture, and unity while bringing residents together for an afternoon of fun and reflection.
Attendees can enjoy live music from local artists, explore an art exhibit showcase, and visit food and vendor booths featuring local businesses. Families are encouraged to bring the kids, who can participate in a children’s area filled with interactive activities and entertainment.
Whether you’re looking to celebrate history, support local businesses, enjoy great performances, or connect with neighbors, this Juneteenth celebration offers something for everyone. Admission is free. Gather your family and friends and join the community in commemorating this important occasion.

Roll Up Your Sleeve for a Lifesaving Cause
Help make a difference close to home by donating blood at a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at District56.
Summer often brings an increase in outdoor activities and travel, leading to a greater need for blood due to accidents and traumatic injuries. At the same time, blood donations typically decline as people take vacations and adjust their schedules. Your donation can help ensure lifesaving blood is available for local patients when they need it most.
The blood drive is hosted in partnership with Vitalant, one of the region’s leading blood donation organizations. To schedule an appointment, call 877-258-4825 and reference blood drive code 10054564, or use the online appointment link.

Don’t Blow Your Summer Budget
Keep the July 4th holiday fun, not financially devastating. Illegal fireworks can damage lives and property. Property owners and tenants can be cited for illegal fireworks used on or launched from their property. Administrative fines apply to illegal fireworks violations up to a maximum of $10,000.
Whether they’re legal or not, bring your fireworks in for safe disposal. Cosumnes Fire Department, Elk Grove Code Enforcement, and Elk Grove Police Department have teamed up to host a Fireworks Drop-off Event on Saturday, June 20 from 10 AM to 3 PM at City Hall (8400 Laguna Palms Way). No fines, no trouble. No questions.
Report illegal fireworks through the EGPD’s non-emergency number at (916) 714-5115. For life-threatening emergencies, dial 9-1-1.

Looking for Student Leaders
Do you know a local high school student looking for a fun opportunity to work with their peers and make a difference for Elk Grove’s youth? We’re looking for three dynamic teens to join the Elk Grove Youth Commission.
The Youth Commission is an advisory body to the Elk Grove City Council representing the needs and perspectives of the city’s youth. Each month the Commission meets to discuss current news, programs, existing policies, and plans activities and events for the community. The Commission regularly reports back to the City Council with information and recommendations.
Applications for the Commission are being accepted through Wednesday, July 15. Learn more.
