Two people died in separate fatal collisions, and the city council voted to put a 2-year moratorium on new applications for storage facilities.

One person was killed early Wednesday morning when their car collided with a farm harvester.
CHP releases more information on Elk Grove fatal collision

Just before 5 pm on Wednesday, a man was killed in a collision on Elk Grove Blvd.
Elk Grove police released the following information:
One person is dead following a single vehicle crash on Elk Grove Boulevard just before 5 o’clock this evening.

Preliminary investigation reveals the driver, an 80-year-old male, was traveling eastbound on Elk Grove Boulevard just east of Big Horn Road when he veered into the center median and struck a tree.
The driver suffered a suspected medical emergency just prior to the collision.
The driver was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The other two passengers in the vehicle are ok.

At its meeting last night, the Elk Grove City Council voted to place a 2-year moratorium on new applications for storage facilities in the city. This would not apply to projects that were already approved. Existing facilities would not be affected. The city will study whether to make the ban permanent during the next 2 years. There are currently 19 storage facilities and 3 more that have been approved
