Westbound Highway 50 is closed at Hazel Ave after officers from multiple law enforcement agencies shot and killed a suspect following a pursuit late Monday night.
The CHP said its officers were patrolling Folsom Blvd when they saw a vehicle with its lights off and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver initially stopped but then led officers on a pursuit. The Sacramento Sheriff’s Department and Citrus Heights Police Department joined the pursuit. Eventually, the vehicle was disabled with a spike strip on westbound Highway 50 just after midnight.
According to the CHP, the suspect got out of the vehicle with what appeared to be a gun. Officers from different agencies opened fire on the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where they later died.
Multiple agencies are investigating the incident, leading to the closure of WB 50 at Hazel Avenue
