My first thought was, “are these the same kids walking around with the newest iPhones and designer hair products?” I hate to sound cynical, but I think our society has set up a generation that is used to taking advantage of anything offered regardless of TRUE need. I would be too proud to take it. I would get a second job if I couldn’t afford…[Read more]

LC……kids start keyboarding skills in computers in kindergarten. Most of them should be fluent in typing on a computer keyboard by graduation. I took shorthand in high school(that dates me for sure) but I didn’t learn to type fluently until college and beyond.

I think part time is a good idea, even if it is just 10 hours or so. They better learn to balance it all because when you’re an adult, you don’t get to have a single focus. There is nothing wrong with having a part time job AND doing well in school. Also, not everyone needs to go straight to a 4 year college. It makes sense to get your undergrad…[Read more]

I don’t know why more parents don’t make their kids get jobs and work for what they want. Very few teens I know have jobs, and the ones I know that DO work, are 18. My older boys BOTH worked by 16, one worked at Chick fil A at 15. It was the best thing for him. They needed that to accept responsibility for themselves and learn the value of the…[Read more]

Thats what I told the first guy who approached me…….”I am taking a break from politics” and I walked away as he was talking to me. The second guy I told I was not against the casino and he tried to talk to me……the third guy? I told him I already signed it. LOL Took me three times to learn the right bs line.

kindrlindr replied to the topic School ratings, how to read them? in the forum Schools 6 years, 10 months ago
Some of the older schools are in more established areas and there is less transition of students. That’s something I looked for when I moved here 15 plus years ago. Markofer Elementary is an excellent school in an older area. Also…just to be on the safe side, call the schools in the area where you are looking for homes. This may not be as big…[Read more]

Lightrail avoids the traffic though…its faster than sitting on the freeways and stoplights. My son uses bus and light rail to get home from school. Let me tell you though, those darn bus drivers need to stop ignoring their times. They have left him stranded more times than I can count because they come early! Grrrr.

When I bought my second home, it was in a brand new gated development in South Sac. I didn’t research the area much, I was only 23 years old. But it looked ok to me. BIG mistake. lol It went downhill rather quickly, and homeowners started renting out section 8. Not all renters are bad, nor are all section 8 renters, but lets just say it wasn’t…[Read more]

There is an entire section devoted to “academics” as well, just not as a district initiative. Maybe they come from the state vs the district?

I only have the 5s. The past month, the battery has been draining so quickly I can’t even keep a charge longer than 2 hours WITHOUT using the phone at all. it literally drains before your very eyes. A ten minute call and it drops from 100% to 30% battery. I think apple built that into the software update so that I would be forced to buy a new…[Read more]

Just curious…….how does anyone know it was intentional? He might have fled because he was freaked out. Not that that makes it ok, but…….
So glad the officer will be ok.
